According to reporting from Adrian Wojnarowski, The Los Angeles Lakers and free agent big man Christian Wood have agreed on a two-year deal. The contract will pay $2.7 million for the upcoming season, with the second year being a player option.
Despite averaging a solid 16.6 and 7.3 rebounds on an efficient 51% from the floor, the market for Wood’s services was surprisingly dry. This was likely due to the perception of while Wood is very talented , does not necessarily contribute to winning basketball. There is also potential negative residue from an incident when he was with the Rockets in which he refused to enter a game.
If he can continue to show the shooting and scoring prowess he displayed in Dallas, then this could be a steal for the Lakers.
